Regional Leadership Development Conference, Region 1 - RLDC1

The SHPE Regional Leadership Development Conference (RLDC) brings together SHPE professional and student chapters from Region 1 formed by CA, NV, WA, OR and AK = RLDC1.

For companies with presence in specific regions across the United States, the RLDC is a wonderful opportunity to connect to highly motivated & talented Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students. RLDC holds various networking events, a career fair, and branding opportunities to showcase your career/internship opportunities.

The RLDC1 is also the perfect opportunity to directly impact and support SHPE chapters in the area, while building more direct connections & networking with Region 1 members. Sessions are focused for student and professional members to improve their organizational, managerial, and technical skills to become leaders in their academic and professional career.

RLDC1 was hosted by SHPE OREGON Professional Chapter with full support from the three SHPE Oregon Student Chapters: Oregon State University (OSU), Portland State University (PSU) and University of Portland (UP), SHPE Region 1 and SHPE National.

SHPE National Conventions

The SHPE National Convention serves as the country’s largest, annual gathering of Hispanic STEM students and professionals.

The convention is made up of five distinct conferences and has something for everyone: Pre-College, Academic, SHPEtinas, SHPETech, and Professionals in STEM. Beyond the educational workshops there are competitions, networking events, and the popular Career Fair & Graduate School Expo.

2021 Bomba Blast

Virtual event offered to the STEM students from the 3 universities in Oregon. They had their resume reviewed and did mock interviews with seasoned professional engineers.
This opportunity offered ours students the support needed to get ready before heading to the SHPE National Convention in search of their dream job or Summer internship!

2021 Bomba Blast Career Panel

This event brings a panel of seasoned STEM professionals to talk about current relevant topics in Corporate America. They also share their career journey and offer some lessons learned to our SHPE Familia; it is targeted to students and early career professionals.

Financial Literacy

This 2021 we had 3 series for Financial Literacy. Series 1: Budgeting and Getting our of Debt. Series 2: Investments and Series 3: Life Insurance. Jason Gray from Primerica, volunteered his time to educate our SHPE Familia in these crucial topics.
